Brantford Toyota has participated in the sixth annual Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk in Harmony Square, Downtown Brantford, and has raised $18,000 to help support and protect victims of domestic violence.
The event was held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, and saw hundreds of men, women, and children walk the city's downtown core in red coloured high heels to symbolise their stand against domestic violence. A total of $36,000 was donated during the day, half of which was raised by Brantford Toyota.
The dealership's team included service advisors Matt Outerson and Melissa Hofmeister. Outerson dressed up as a pirate in high heels for the day, and joined a team of pirates to walk on stage and entertain children at the fundraiser. The pirates were later declared as the event's best fundraising team. Hofmeister, meanwhile, volunteered at the event and helped Nova Vita organize and manage the walk. A few of the dealership's guests also attended the event.
Brantford Toyota General Manager Ben Cliff is very proud of his team's participation, and lauds their efforts to raise funds for a deserving cause. "Domestic violence, in all its shapes and forms, is dangerous and must be stopped. It negatively impacts everyone in the short and long term, including victims and perpetrators. It is therefore imperative that we all join hands and support every initiative against domestic violence," said Cliff.
He said Brantford Toyota has a strong commitment towards its community, and looks forward to participating in next year's walk. The dealership's participation in the Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk is a part of Performance Auto Group's Drive Change initiative, which ensures that our organization gives back visibly to the communities which we serve.
