Performance Auto Group Presents 24th Annual United Way Golf Tournament, Raises Over $55,000

Performance Auto Group has presented its 24th Annual United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament in support of United Way of Niagara, and has helped raise over $55,000 for the charity's support programs.

The event was held on August 14, 2017 at the prestigious Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in Fenwick, Ontario. Over 180 golfers attended the tournament and played on the 27-hole course, and over 220 people enjoyed a first-class dinner hosted at the club by Performance Auto Group CEO Steve Alizadeh.

The popular event was organised and managed in its entirety by Performance Auto Group as presenting sponsor. All Niagara-based dealerships participated in the tournament, and set up highly-visible vehicle placements throughout the golf course. Every hole had different vehicles on display, with sales consultants on hand to engage people with product presentations.

Bill Anderson, Performance Auto Group Community Ambassador and Chairperson of the event, said the tournament is one of the biggest fundraising events in the Niagara region and helps generate much-needed finances for one of the region's top charities. "The United Way Golf Tournament is considered one of the top fundraising events in the entire region. It raises funds for over 74 essential United Way of St. Catharines and District programs, and helps the organization run critical projects for communities-in-need. The event also helps finance nearly every medical research organization in Niagara, including those for cancer and heart disease," he said.

Bill said the tournament has been managed and presented by Performance Auto Group for the last 24 years, and is a vital part of the group's Drive Change initiative. "This event exemplifies our company's long-standing commitment to support community initiatives. For over three decades, we have single-handedly managed, organized and promoted The United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament, and have helped raised around $865,000 to-date from this one event. We are all very proud of this, and hope to continue organizing this event in future," he said.

Vehicles on display included top-of-the-line luxury models like a Mercedes-Benz C 300 Cabriolet Sport, a Genesis G80 Sport and three different models each from BMW and Lexus. Performance BMW placed an M4 Coupe, an X4 M40i SUV and a 340i xDrive Sedan, while Performance Lexus showcased an RC 350 Coupe, an IS 350 F Sport Sedan and an RX 350 F Sport SUV.

Performance Toyota and Performance Hyundai also placed two vehicles each on the greens. Toyota had a RAV4 AWD SE SUV and an all-new C-HR XLE Premium, whereas Hyundai displayed a Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate SUV and the brand's first-ever stand-alone hybrid - the IONIQ.

Performance Auto Group's organization of the United Way Golf Tournament is a part of the group's Drive Change initiative, which ensures that our organization gives back visibly to the communities which we serve.
