On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, a team of Performance Auto Group employees participated in the Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Ride in Brampton and raised more than $2,000 to help fund vital medical research.
The team, named Performance Racers, rode on the big bike for more than twenty minutes and navigated through 3.5 km of city streets using only pedal power. The Racers enjoyed cycling the big bike, and joined hands with a team from the local Lowe's to power the thirty-seat, 2,000 lbs behemoth.
Team Captain Ashley Ward, Marketing Coordinator at Performance Auto Group, said she was very proud of her team and their effort to raise funds for such a noble cause. "We all had a great time riding the big bike, and created much-needed public awareness about heart disease and stroke. The reaction from everyone on the road towards the bike was fantastic, with people waving at us and honking car horns in our support," said Ward.
She said it is crucial to help raise funds for research into heart disease and stroke, as the conditions sadly prove fatal for over 70,000 Canadians annually. She said she plans to partake in Brampton's Big Bike Ride next year, and looks forward to organizing Performance's participation.
Performance Auto Group's participation in the Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Ride is a part of the group's Drive Change initiative, which ensures that our organization gives back visibly to the communities which we serve.
